Just completely moved out of the brohouse in SF and back home for the summer. This couple of months should be full of getting stuff done, FOR REAL THIS SUMMER! Starting mid August, I should have a cool new place in the city too!
Waiting sucks, but I just got the first piece of the puzzle. I hope my choice in color turns out cool. As if my interior didn't already have all the colors of the rainbow, haha.
I just ordered a steering wheel setup and realized that this boss hub is way too long for me in the s12 combined with a quick release. It'd put the steering wheel super close to my face (just mounted a friends to try it). So I had to order a short hub. HOWEVER, This hub combined with an NRG/works bell quick release is an awesome setup to have in an s13/s14 but turned out to be too far forward in the stupid s12.
Would work just fine in an s12 if you plan on using a slim quick release or none at all.
It's brand new, it's unopened, it's not even here at my house yet. It shipped a few days ago and should be here soon.
I can meet you anywhere in the west bay area, san jose to san francisco
$25 bucks picked up , saves you around 5 dollars from getting one shipped from sonic motor.
$29 bucks shipped, saves you like 50 cents from sonic motor. SUPER INCENTIVE.
The car progress is pretty slow, as always. Finals are coming up and this semester is almost over! Wish me luck BROS! So, summer time heat, car progress, fun, love, happiness, drunkenness, are all coming very soon.
This weekend, I finished the strut bar and welded in some lower radiator mounts to the s14 tension rod brackets. I made them out of 3/4 washers and some extra metal (since I got those sweet radiator bushings from Justin THANKS DUDE)
And I ended up painting the brackets pink WITH some copper sparkles, you can super see the difference in the sunlight and it's really, really cool.
Bronzey sparkles
Looks cool!
This one's for you RUIZ!
lower rad mounts
mad cat
And then Yuta and Matt9000 came over, brought four lokos, got me drunk, and commandeered the camera.
Thanks MAX for these awesome scans! click on them for the full image, I just learned a new html that opens them in a new tab too. Stoked to see this before the car gets trashed this summer
I looked pretty garbage after staying up the night doing that ghetto tension rod fix, sweet yeah!
I was cleaning the driver side floor in the s12 the other day with brakleen (melted rubber from my shoes) and the smell got really strong. It was pretty hot and dry that day too. Anyway, then my nose turned into a bloody faucet. It was everywhere. This stuff rules.
thanks for hooking it up again Justin! It was pretty funny to see the name on the box (forum username)
new bottom radiator mounts, weird seeing these so nice! haha
strut bar, the bar BARELY fits in between the inner bolts of the strut towers
brackets cut off and the oval holes are filled in
work station (floor, haha)
more oval hole filling comparo
I wore a pretty serious face mask when I sanded off the paint. chinese lead paint destroys families
all ovals filled in
new hardware that fits
tacked in, you can see the sockets on top of the bolts to protect the threads from splatter
compared to the pics of it new, you can see how much I've pushed the brackets in and bent them accordingly. the nuts on the innermost bolt is super barely able to come off, so it worked out
I think Matt9000 talked me into ZEBRA print brackets, maybe probably.
When he came over, he brought four loko and budweiser. And my drunken ass decided to do the hood mod since they were there and I ended up cutting one of the hood brackets a bit too far but it worked out! Hahha, probably shouldn't operate angle grinders when under the influence.
