So stoked for friday, gotta get it all cute and ready. Maybe even work on the bike, too. droidx pics, this thing has pretty horrible performance in low light(expected) but looks pretty nice otherwise
yutas thing at fatlace's word up event, it was really chill. surprisingly chill for a skid event in the bay area
Man, it was so incredibly tiring. For simplicity sake...Friday night, I watched Bio-dome(1996) with Matt9000 and got 2 hours of sleep before we left for socal. Just hung out and shot the shit with a bunch of cool kids on Saturday, ended the night drinking a sidewalk slammer (40oz, drink half the beer, pour your choice of 4loko in and mix, finish 4 loko) and spent a few hours in a hot tub only to sleep for 1 hour before going to JCCS on Sunday.
Then, spent all day in the sun and got a GNARLY neck and farmers tan. Slightly sun burned, but I had a really cool time meeting and hanging out with everyone! Went for some crazy Orange Juice with Antonio afterward, korean BBQ, and then drove all the way back home on an hour of sleep and 5 hr energy. 3 hours of sleep the whole weekend and got home at 6am on Monday.
S12silvia.com is definitely one of the cooler things to have happened to this chassis, it harvests s12 related materials from all around the world and brings it all together into a clean blog for this failure of a car.
Tires are mounted and they are super nice! They're a bit square but I'll have to deal with that until I get bigger wheels up front
The 2.5in 2x muffler exhaust is going well too, it's practically all done. I just need to paint it and finish making the end pipe. It isn't anywhere as quiet as I had hoped, but it'll do. First time making an exhaust alone and it just took forever; I spent so much time on it. I tried to make it as close to the body as possible so there are some weird bends in there. I used 2 magnaflow xl3's, two 2.5in U bends, 5ft of 2.5in, and random metal for the brackets. Made everything from the downpipe back
All hard mounted along with the hockey puck motor mounts and solid trans/diff mounts.
downpipe
I made a mount out of bed frame, little did I know that this was tempered steel and it destroyed 3 drill bits
forged in mordor
mock and fitting
over rear subframe
cool guy hangers
pipe that goes over subframe, straight section at the end for the slip-joint
I had a particular photo shoot thing today at 3pm which required my car to move around and it didn't help that the SPL tension rods still aren't here, not to mention the lack of an exhaust(still building). So I had to borrow Matt's for the time being, which also allowed me to have things ready for the SPL's.
This car is really a pain in my dick. It looks simple (well, it is) but it took me practically all morning to do and figure out. And when it came time to finally drill the brackets for the new bolt, I called up about 6 shops in the area since I didn't have a 14mm drill bit nor did I have a drill press. One shop picks up telling me to come over, only to tell me that I'd have to wait until Sunday after 30 minutes of questions and answers. So fuck it. I eyeballed with a Unibit and it turned out just fine.
